The Debut of the Timberlane Ranch Good Morning Journal

Good morning, everyone. I’m Al Timberlane, and this is the debut of the Timberlane Ranch Good Morning Journal, a different kind of journal format that will now be presented regularly each week through Timberlane Entertainment News and the Ozark American Songbook.

Hey, the Ozark influencers are here. I’m excited about that. They are folks from “off,” I think, who have come into the area to experience the Ozarks and Mountain View, and I think that is wonderful.

One of the first things I learned many years ago when I came here and started doing interviews was that local people would ask, “Where are you from?” I might say Georgia, Tennessee, Michigan, or Leslie, Arkansas. And sooner or later somebody would say, “Oh, you’re from off.”

Being “from off” is an Ozarks way of recognizing that you came from somewhere else. After more than 40 years here, I feel more connected to these roots than I ever have. But I suppose I am still from off. I’m 65 years old, so where was I for the rest of that time? That’s a good question. I was off.

Becky and I are also preparing for another trip north to spend time with family. Please keep our family in your prayers.

Tomorrow: O.K. Trading Post Front Porch Jam

Tomorrow, October 10th, 2026, is the O.K. Trading Post Front Porch Jam from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. I hope you will join us.

We will have great friends and great pickers from the Jimmy Driftwood Barn, musicians from around Mountain View, and some of the different people I have interviewed who may show up and join in the picking.

We are planning on about two hours of picking and grinning on the old-time front porch at the O.K. Trading Post. While you are there, you can also arrange a horseback ride with a phone call. Then we are going to sit back and listen to the Jacob Austin Band as they perform a full concert.

There is a lot happening right now — the Ozarks, the music, the people visiting from off, the Front Porch Jam tomorrow, and then our trip north to be with family.

But for this morning, I just wanted to say: Good morning, everyone.
